group interview

Who would be the audience for your media product?

for my media product the target audience would be aimed at adolescent teens to middle aged adults. however my media product would not just be aimed to who ever is within this age bracket people would need to generally enjoy our type of thriller which is conspiracy/religious thriller. also audiences who are knowledgeable about what my film is about and are aware of the idiolgy also, people who enjoy a mixture of both omniscient and restricted narration would enjoy it. however it can seem as my film is targeted at a niche audience due to the fact that people mainly expect thrillers to have a substantial amount of action where as my film only has a small amount as it focuses and develops on the idea of things being mentally more than physically issues in the film such as nightmares and flashbacks.
people who are able find the deeper meaning to certain scenes would be more appropriate as most of the time scenes do juxtapose. although there are some unconventional aspects in the film there are some conventions that audiences can and will pick up on such as voyeurism for example the victim beings stalked until killed.

How did you attract/address your audience?

we attracted our audience by making the film similar to some mainstream films that have done good although we are an independent production company.
our film uses a theme similar to a successful film called the rite which is also religious like the oath this was used to attract audience. to communicate to the audience and to relate to the audience i used characters that they may b able to relate to in life as the protagonist goes on a downfall until he finally realize what he need to do to make things right people in life may have the same problems.
due to audience feedback we did have to make a few adjustments such as narrative and some shot types the audience did not understand fully, so alterations had to be made in order for it to be more acceptable for the type of audience it was aimed at.
the audience thought that the final product was much better as what was showed before was not at a good standard.

Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

looking back to the prelim task i have developed my skills greatly much more techniques have been incorporated in the final film such as enigma codes, action codes, voyeurism establishing shots POV, continuity editing, antagonist and protagonist and also added examples of Todorovs Narrative Structure.
at the beginning of the project we had a good set locations that we was able to use but due to a person who was not in the group jeopardized this location which consequently made it so that this place could no be used, instead we used a room in school which we tried to make it seem like a confession box similar to catholic church.
for costumes we used a hooded coat for wen the protagonist attacked the victim, the priest had a black shirt an white dog collar as what a priest would wear. we did a shot by shot story bored of what will happen although some alterations were made in order to make the film. other groups have said that we have come a long way from what our film originally looked like as we had a poor start but then started organizing ourselves and eventually complete the media product.

student media analyisis

through out the entire clip an appropriate soundtrack was used to fit the scenes and different types of moods.
the beginning starts with a non-diegtic sound of what appears to be gunshots, this is an enigma code.

fonts for my thriller

i have selected various different fonts that will go well with the thriller, i have chosen these fonts because they all go well with the title 'The Oath' which helps create meaning for the film as it is a conspiracy/religious thriller.

The version that we made of vertigo, the opening sequence

this is the version of the opening sequence of the film vertigo that i helped make, my role in making this was the typography whoich i did on 'livetype' i found that live type was a pretty hard software to use but i quikcly learned how to use it. fpr the text to sweep in as it does i had to drag it into final cut and add further edting.

Preliminary task

To make this better, more of a diverse range of mise en scene such as low or high key lighting and props.
Also different editing techniques instead of just cut, fades and dissolves could have been used.
